Service Description

This space is for women who wish to be seen and heard in their full presence, an opportunity to look more deeply into themselves through the healing power of story sharing, to reconnect with the birth experience and embrace the healing power available in the story. Are there parts of your birth that feel confusing? Do you feel like you wanted one thing and don't know how you ended up with something completely different? Do you feel like no one understands you? You've heard so many times: "You have a healthy baby," "You should be grateful," and "There are much worse cases, so don't complain." Often these kinds of comments and repression of reality cause us to bury and silence our stories. There's no right to tell them or "complain" because the "outcome" is a healthy baby, and no one cares about what the mother went through during that process, and how that experience also affects the baby. My perspective and inclination are toward women's sovereignty, autonomy over their bodies, the safety of physiological, free, and respected birth, the questioning of conventional medical practices, and an understanding of the importance of birth as a portal for healing and expansion. In this new paradigm, it is crucial to examine how our arrivals into the world and our births (especially within the medical system) profoundly mark us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Telling our stories helps us reclaim our power, which is always available. No matter how your birth was (free and self-managed, at home with midwives, vaginal in the hospital, or by cesarean section), there is always much to heal and learn about ourselves by reviewing the sequence of events and how we experienced them. We give birth as we live; integrating our births can also change the way we live.
